| Industry News: Goodwood Kartways - Intrepid Karts |
The racing Di Leo’s began seriously transforming Ontario’s Goodwood Kartways last year and the coming season will be no different with the recent announcement that Goodwood Kartsport will be the Canadian importer of the Intrepid product line. Canadians at the forefront of Stars of Karting competition utilized Intrepid karts last season, and the marque ranked third in the Super Kart Illustrated Constructors Championship for 2006. Goodwood Kartsports will now look to put Intrepid on the map from Ontario karting.
“Competing and winning at the Florida Winter Tour and the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship is our goal for 2007,” said Team Manager Marco Di Leo, and he will surely be a part of the action as a multi-time champion. Bringing Intrepid is another step in making Goodwood Kartways independent, and follows the move last season where the facility introduced its own four-stroke kart, the F4-K, which it will continue to offer.
“The decision to switch our whole operation to Intrepid was the right move for us,” Di Leo continued, “and we look forward to bringing the factory success throughout Canada.” The facility has already received its first shipment of product, and the karts will be on track this weekend when the Winter Tour begins at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Veteran racer and facility president Daniel Di Leo noted the arrival of Intrepid is just another promising step in the growth of the family venue. “I am very excited with the direction we are heading in,” he said. “Goodwood Kartways is continuously growing. With the addition of our Canadian Rookie Karting Championship last season and now introducing our very own product line, we feel that we are working towards our goal of becoming one of Canada’s finest training facilities.
The track is a buzz of activity to be sure. Over 1000 members belong to the Canadian Rookie Karting Championship, and the Rookie Series kept staff busy last season. The track also got a facelift last year with some new curbing and rental karts, is home track for the Toronto Kart Club, and hosted the opening and closing rounds of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship.
