With a brief hiatus between testing with BGR/TLM Racing with Grote, Junior Development driver Mackenzie Clare took advantage of an opportunity to test a Skip Barber Formula 2000 car for two full days at the picturesque Le Circuit De Mont Tremblant, north of Montreal. This historic 2.6 mile road course was built in 1949, and at one time, was host to Formula One.
Mac did not waste any time getting acclimated to the F2000.
After a brief morning autocross session, it was on to the 15 turn road course, just in time for the heavy rains. The balance of Day One was spent gaining valuable wet track experience.
Day Two brought the sun and a fast dry track. The 14 year old, Clare, hammered down his lap times all day and garnered many compliments from his coaches, particularly for his clean, consistent approach to improving with every session, with or without outside feedback. “Mackenzie has a natural feel for what the racecar is doing, and a great attention to detail. He doesn’t miss a thing.”
Mackenzie will re-join his BGR/TLM with Grote racing team for more testing in the F1600 Van Diemen, at Mosport in mid August and will continue to participate in select karting events.
Clare Motorsports is currently in negotiation with two major North American partners/sponsors for 2010/2011. Announcements are forthcoming.
