SUNDAY, MARCH 25
A very successful 2007 Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour came to a close Sunday at Ocala Gran Prix with five Rotax champions being crowned and another earning a ticket to the Grand Final at El Ain, United Arab Emirates. This year’s Tour was the first to be split into A and B groups when sheer numbers threatened the mantra of ‘Serious Fun in the Florida Sun,’ and the move was an unparalleled success. Race days were shorter and race weekends ran very smoothly as Bill Wright once again assembled an outstanding staff of race officials and support crew. With the final crowning moments Sunday afternoon, all can now breath a sigh as the karting masses head off to various Regional and National events across the country.

SATURDAY, MARCH 24
Florida sunshine welcomed the Group A fields today at Ocala Gran Prix as 125 international karters filled the paddock for the Florida Winter Tour finale presented by Tony Kart Florida. As expected, the Rotax DD2 field has grown substantially as all look to snag a ticket to the 2007 Grand Final, and Junior, Senior, and Mini-Max are averaging 30-kart fields with 31, 32, and 28 respectively. The talent level is high in all classes, but perhaps nowhere more than in DD2.

The Florida Winter Tour is ‘making the turn’ in its final weekend of the 2007 season as the Group A Rotax classes will look to decide the five championships: DD2, Senior, Masters, Junior, and MiniMax. The final weekend will run at the same Ocala Gran Prix circuit that the Group B classes ran last weekend. The central Florida facility hosted the Rotax Max Challenge East Grand Regional in July of 2006 so many of the competitors this weekend have a good base set-up for the track.
