| Event News: BSRKC 2009 Champions Gala |
Each year every organization worth its salt jots down a wish list of what they want to accomplish. The BSRKC Series is no different. In fact, its Steering Committee faces the Mandate of presenting an affordable regional karting series that satisfies as many racers as possible. On Jan. 30 we completed our wish list with the celebration of the Champion’s Yearend Banquet and Awards Gala at the Destiny Banquet Hall and Convention Centre in Woodbridge, Ontario.
With special guest Mr. Brian Stewart and his daughter Janet in attendance, the Class Champions were presented with the Stewart Cups, beautifully embroidered class champion jackets, Autosports Media Group champion’s plaques and gift certificates, as well as prize cheques sponsored by MG Tires and the BSRKC Series. 2nd and 3rd also received prize cheques and AMG gift certificates. 2nd to 5th all received trophies that were sponsored by K-Line Insulators Limited.
Two special draws were held for the Junior Classes for prizes sponsored by Steve Lyons’ Creative Edge Signs & Graphics and Taylor Lawson’s Taylord Designs. Cory Cacciavillani won the draw for Steve’s complete custom kart decal set. Jaret Stewart won the draw for Taylor’s custom helmet design.
During the evening’s entertainment the DJ drew the gift bags full of door and spot dance prizes donated by CF Groups, Quinlan Inc., the Simcoe and Waterloo Regional kart clubs, and Castrol.
Castrol went one better when their representative JP Soucie announced a special three year $500.00 cash scholarship to promote their new Super Synthetic – Castrol Edge product. The scholarship will be awarded to a public or separate school student competing in the BSRKC series with the highest grade point average based on official transcripts.
A to Z Capital Corp., DFR DeFrancesco Racing & Andy DeFrancesco, Luis Ruibal & Mike Adams from MG Tires, each lay the financial ground work for us to plot our 2009 wish list. One look at the http://www.BSRKC.com website home page quickly identifies each one of the sponsors that contributed to our success.
