Five Stars classes were stacked with top talent and a troubling trend developed in that many were unable to get their kart to the line twice. Those who did left Norman with a solid points haul, while the rest may be left to wonder what could have been.

They will join top returning pilots from South of the border and a handful of graduated Cadets in chasing the Stars National Championship beginning in Norman this weekend. Just as in JICA, many Canadian names in ICA are known quantities in National competition and threats for the National Championship.

Spec Racer/Cadet Preview

After averaging roughly 20 entries per event last year, the Spec Racer division is set to grow even more this season as TaG racing becomes more and more popular. Forty-three drivers have preregistered for this weekend, including six Canadians with Championship favourite Devon Sandeen among them. In Cadet, a majority, if not all, of North America’s top kid karters will be among the contingent in Norman and among them will be Woodbridge, Ontario, star Anthony Furfari.

MONDAY, APRIL 9

Team Preview

As the grass begins to grow green and the leaves begin to form again in some areas of North America, the 2007 Snap-on Stars of Karting series gets set to begin its season with the third edition of the Race of the Americas event at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, OK, sponsored this year by Mazda. Scheduled to run this weekend, the early forecast for the weekend does not look warm with temperatures set for the 40s with a chance of rain, something Paul Zalud and his Stars staff were looking to avoid, having moved the event from March to April.
