Nicholas Latifi of Toronto, Ontario, a member of the Sofina Foods Driver Development Program, looks to follow up an incredible opening weekend of DD2 action at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas held at the Phoenix Kart Track near Glendale, AZ. The talented teen took the opening two rounds of two-speed racing to grab the championship points lead in the internationally recognized Rotax Max Challenge. The series heads to the golden state of California to tackle the permanent parking lot track of CalSpeed Karting located at the Fontana Speedway. This weekend rounds three and four will be contested as drivers look to make a charge towards the championship title. Latifi headed to Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida this past weekend to gain some more seat time leading up this pivotal weekend of racing for Gatorz Challenge and to prepare for the upcoming second weekend of Florida Winter Tour.

“The testing this past weekend went great. Nicky is just a machine right now clicking off very consistent laps,” comments David Tennyson, coach for Latifi. “I am really excited about heading back to Gatorz. We are really enjoying running with the group from Grand Junction.”

After the opening weekend of Gatorz, the 15-year-old racer headed straight to Florida for his first run in DD2 at the Florida Winter Tour competing in the opening weekend of Rotax Max classes at the Orlando Karting Center. Again this weekend the 2009 Team Canada member will run back-to-back International Rotax Max events. Following the Gatorz CalSpeed event, Latifi will head the following weekend to the West Palm Beach, Florida area for the second weekend of Florida Winter Tour Rotax Max action taking place at the slightly renovated PBIR facility.

“Running back-to-back weekends is fun and I really like the challenge of all the different tracks,” comments Latifi. “I am really enjoying DD2 and love the competition. Last year was great in Junior, hitting the podium at the Canadian Nationals, but stepping up to the senior ranks has been great.”

The Sofina Foods program is proud to support Canadian drivers reaching the international stage and will make announcements on their 2011 program in the coming months. For more information about this release, please contact David Tennyson at davidten@h10media.com.
