The G7 Motorsports Team, along with team driver Anthony Gangi Jr., took on the demanding Palm Beach International Raceway karting track for rounds three and four of the Formula Kart classes of the Florida Winter Tour. Following a weekend of team testing, the crew from New York State was very optimistic about their chances in the Vortex TaG Cadet package. Working with Mike Doty of Mike Doty Racing, MDR and G7 Motorsports have been burning the midnight oil as they look to improve in the this weekend. Solid results in the opening weekend at the Orlando Karting Center have the team excited about this new class addition to the G7 Motorsports program.

"We are still missing a little something in the Vortex Cadet class. The racing is so close it doesn't take much to fall back a few spots," comments Anthony Gangi Sr. "This was our first time running the TaG Cadet at temperatures into the 80's. We need to work on our set-up to improve our chances to score podiums."

In Saturday round three racing action Anthony Jr. would muster the 11th quickest lap in timed qualifying. In the prefinal, Gangi Jr. stormed forward to get himself up into fourth place by lap six only to have his throttle cable break, taking him out of the race and scoring him in 16th place. From last place on the grid, Gangi Jr. raced forward quickly up to the fourth position just past half distance. Late in the race Anthony Jr. would not be able to hold that spot falling back to finish in sixth. The team thrashed throughout the night solve the set-up issues that seem to dog Gangi Jr. in the late stages of the race. In round four qualifying it was tenth quickest to again start deep in the field. Gangi Jr. would grab several spots off the first start only to have contact when the start was waved off. Damage to the front of the kart inhibited Anthony Jr.'s race, but he as able to finish the prefinal, crossing in eighth. In the final Gangi Jr. would again drive himself up through the pack early getting up to sixth before falling back to eighth in the closing laps. Post race scoring saw Gangi assessed a two-position penalty for contact putting him tenth in the final order. In the championship standings it's Gangi Jr. sitting in fifth place.

"Yeah that was a very frustrating weekend," comments Anthony Jr. " We had good speed but just got too tight at the end of the race. We will come back to Ocala with a much better set-up for sure."

The G7 Motorsports Team returns to the Florida Winter Tour on February 24th as the series returns to Palm Beach International Raceway for the rounds three and four of the Rotax Classes. The G7 Motorsports Team has added PTK Axles and performance karting components to their 2011 support program joining the recent announced program with Hole Shot Drive Systems.
