It would be hard to conjure a more impressive beginning for Intrepid North America than the one the outfit has produced in its first three months. Two wins at the Pan American Challenge Championship event, two wins at SKUSA SuperNationals, and now a brilliant one-two finish in the Karter Division at the Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, powered by Rotax. Add to the facts the results come from tracks that could not be more different, and Intrepid North America has made a very strong statement for both its team and its product line.

“It’s been an incredible three months for Intrepid North America, that’s for sure,” said team President Marco Di Leo from the PRI paddock. “I’m very happy and I think we’re all very happy and satisfied with the effort so far and the results that it’s been producing. To succeed at three such top-level events in America is truly amazing. And to think we’ve had a long track on Mojo tires, a temporary track on MG’s, and now a 14-second show track on Bridgestone tires and we’ve been on the top step of the podium at all three. It speaks volumes for the quality of the Intrepid brand, and certainly keeps everyone in the team motivated and looking forward to the next big event.”

Held at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando, Florida, in front of thousands of racing professionals from around the globe, the ‘Bull Ring’ was lined with spectators from start to finish, and had a 2500 seat grandstand filled to capacity. After Intrepid North America took four of the top five spots in the Karter Division prefinal, Bas Lammers, Daniel Formal, Ben Cooper and Di Leo himself each dialled in for a 40-lap final in a field that also included five-time World Champion Davide Fore and reigning KZ World Champion Jonathan Thonon among a star-studded list of thirty drivers.

Lammers led an Intrepid North America 1-2-3 from the wave of the green, and it may well have stayed that way were it not for a lapped kart parking him in the barriers at half distance. Formal and Cooper then raced Intrepid and Praga free and clear of the rest, and mere minutes later the pair owned the podium.

“Everything was just prefect,” Formal said in his trackside interview following the win. “The kart started getting a little loose at the end, and I saw Ben coming in the shadows, but everything was just great! I can’t wait now to go out with the All-Stars!”

The top eight finishers in the Karter Division joined the back of the field in the All-Star race with Formal, Cooper and Di Leo transferring for Intrepid North America. The field was twenty-three karts deep with the transferred karters looking to charge through the likes of NASCAR drivers AJ Allmendinger and Cole Whitt, and full-time IndyCar drivers James Jakes, Alex Tagliani, Ryan Briscoe and EJ Viso, who was driving for Intrepid and had earned pole position earlier in the day. Cooper managed the traffic best aboard his Praga kart and was almost instantly inside the top ten. Viso raced third until he was hung out by a lapped kart, and by the closing stages the pair were fighting for the final step on the podium, Cooper taking it, producing another strong result. Viso was fourth and Formal eighth in the final order, still riding high from his earlier win.
