Gatorz Challenge of the Americas Gearing Up for Season Opener in Tucson

Just three weeks remain until the opening event of the 2012 Gatorz Challenge of the Americas season. Entering its fifth year, the international Rotax Max Challenge program is welcoming more karters and more high-profile teams each year with the 2012 season expected to be record numbers once again. The opening round of the new season will take place on January 27-29 at the Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona. The series will make its first ever visit to the facility, which is outlined similar to that of the famous Suzuka track in Japan.

“The 2012 season for the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas program is looking good heading into our opening event. By the amount of entries and contact we’ve had with teams, we are looking to grow overall about 20% from last year alone,” stated series promoter Andy Seesemann. “With our emphasis of competitive racing, fun atmosphere and a solid prize package, no one with a Rotax in the western half of North America should pass up the chance to compete at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas.”

In addition to series title sponsor Gatorz contributing to the support of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas series, a number of companies have signed on as class sponsors for the 2012 season, as follows:

Senior: Buddy Rice Karting (tonykartwest.com)
DD2: Overdrive Motorsports (odkarts.com)
DD2 Masters: Buddy Rice Karting Engines (tonykartwest.com)
Masters: Billet Performance Karting (billetperformancekarting.com)
Junior: Rolison Performance Group (rolisonperformancegroup.com)
Mini Max: BBR Karting (bbrkarting.com)
Micro Max: Apollo Motorsports (apollomotorsports.ca)

Showing the wide diversity of support for the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas program, three of the series sponsors hail from Canada, one from Colorado, one from Portland, and two from California.

Pre-registration for the Tucson event is available until January 12 before the late fee is assessed and also onsite at the track. Be sure to fill out your entry form (HERE: http://www.gatorzkarting.com/EntryForms/GatorzEntry_CotA2k12EventForm.pdf) today. The host hotel for the Tucson round is the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, located at the entrance to the Tucson International Airport and just 14 miles away from the circuit. To help further establish the international series, those unable to attend will have the benefit to listen in on the live play-by-play action called from trackside by EKN’s own Rob Howden from the http://www.ekartingnews.com/live webpage while viewing the live scoring feed and updates from trackside. Complete daily coverage will be updated on the site’s news feed as well throughout the weekend.
