Driver News: Kelowna Racer Marcus Brodie Launches Campaign for the 2012 Canadian Touring Car Championship
17 year old Marcus Brodie continues to follow his passion for racing and today launched a fundraising campaign to help him reach his goal of racing in the Canadian Touring Car Championship in 2012. Marcus is partnering with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of BC and will be supporting a local wish child through his fundraising efforts.

Local businesses are encouraged to place ads on Marcus’ website at http://www.marcusbrodie.com demonstrating their support. Visitors to the website will provide exposure to the advertisers, which, in turn, will generate more fundraising dollars for Marcus and grant a wish to a local child through Make- A-Wish. Marcus will donate 10% of all funds raised to the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a way to give back to the community. The average cost of a wish in BC is $6,000.

Local media are supporting Marcus’s efforts, creating visibility for his campaign website and sharing his story. Radio stations Power 104, Q103, and The Daily Courier will cover his fundraising campaign and provide visibility for website advertisers.

Marcus has raced karts from age 9; regionally to internationally. He is now a grade 12 honors student looking to make the transition from karts to cars. Statistics show that over 90% of racers do not successfully make this transition. This will be a crucial year in Marcus’s racing career. Marcus is fighting the odds and is reaching out to the community for support.

“Having a young man like Marcus want to help grant a wish for a Kelowna child, especially at this point in his career, makes me extremely proud”, commented Ross Hetherington, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish BC. “I’m hopeful that the community will respond to Marcus’ efforts and help us grant another Kelowna child’s wish.”

Direct donations will be accepted via PayPal on http://www.marcusbrodie.com . Visitors are encouraged to share Marcus’ homepage through Twitter and Facebook.

Current sponsors supporting Marcus Brodie’s Homepage: Autoplace, Kelowna Mini/BMW, Motor Werke, Auction World, Skogies Car Wash, and Media Button.
