| Waterloo Regional Kart Club Season Opening Weekend a Huge Success |

The traditional start to the season for the Waterloo Regional Kart Club is the Driver Training and Open Practice weekend. On Saturday (April 28) the club had had 35 first and second year drivers come spend the day at track. Many club members were on hand to help the new drivers as they learned to drive and control their karts. The day included kart control skills, race procedures, flags, and a chance to get in some practice laps for the drivers. The day concluded with each driver being awarded a certificate.
Their mechanics and crew were also kept busy with instruction on kart preparation and maintenance. As the day progressed, it was clear that all of the drivers will be ready to participate in their first club race.
Open practice for all members was held on Sunday (April 30), and it was great to see most of the members out getting in their first laps of the season.
This coming Saturday (May 5) is the first WRKC race of the 2012 season at Flamboro Speedway. With 135 members registered, record numbers in all six Honda classes the club will run this year (Cadet, Novice, Jr. Lite, Jr. Heavy, Sr. Medium and Masters) is expected.
The gates open at 6:30 am, registration starts at 7:00 am, and the karts will start practice at 8:00 am. In addition to seeing the new and returning drivers compete in the first race of the year, the WRKC also wants to extend an invitation for all Honda racers to come and join the action on Saturday as the club starts the season.
