| Series News: Canadian Karting League Departs from Innisfil Indy |
TORONTO, ONT. (May 6, 2012) – The Canadian Karting League has announced that it has parted ways with the Innisfil Indy, its home for the past two seasons.
“We have elected to leave Innisfil Indy effective immediately,” CKL owner Russ Bond said. “We deeply regret the temporary inconvenience that this will cause our growing membership.
“This development did not come as a complete surprise to us. We have known from earlier discussions with the Innisfil Indy ownership that it would be unlikely that the CKL would return beyond 2012. Possible alternate locations have already been investigated and I think we will have an announcement very soon.”
Earlier this year, the Canadian Karting League was informed that it would be unable to continue at its other location, Centennial Park Mini Indy due to the track being deemed not being suitable for racing in 2012.
“It has been kind of a tough start to the year so far,” Bond said. “However, I am confident that even with this latest development the CKL will still have a banner year.”
The CKL is expected to make an important announcement later this week as to its future.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Innisfil Indy and the Launi family for providing the CKL with a home facility over the past two seasons. I wish them the best of luck moving forward with their facility and karting programs,” Bond said.
