Team News: Team K&K Impresses at Mosport and Sutton

SUTTON, ONT. (May 9, 2012) - Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship champion Jonathon Treadwell continued right where he ended up last year, on his K&K Racing Kart...at the front. At the Sutton opener this weekend, Treadwell came from a seventh place in qualifying to win the prefinal and final in Honda Sr., in preparation for the upcoming BSRKC event at Sutton in two weeks.

The youngest K&K team driver, Phoenix Humphrey, managed a top-five finish in his first-ever Jr Lite race.

At Mosport on the weekend, Trevor Rancier, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship and Mosport Jr, Hvy. Champion, did double duty in Honda Junior and Rotax Junior. In Honda, Rancier won the prefinal and led every lap of the final, but was relegated to a second place finish on the last lap. In Rotax Junior, he finished third in the prefinal and dogged heels with the front runners in the final, being as high as second, before finally finishing a very close third.

Andre Fiorini, defending Mosport Jr Lite Champion, made his debut in Honda Jr Hvy. He had a little bad luck in the prefinal, but came from 10th in the final to as high as third, before being shuffled back to a fifth place finish.

Dante Lerra, who joined K&K form GP, was absolutely amazing in his debut, driving his new K&K Predator II DD2. Lerra finished second in the prefinal to seasoned veteran Enrico Menotti, and even led the final before fishing second.

Taylor Gates, Mosport Rotax Sr. Champion, who joined K&K from CRG, had his work cut out for him with an incredibly strong field of predominantly CRGs. In only his second race on his new K&K Predator chassis, Gates managed third in the prefinal. A few tweaks of the kart , saw him jump out to an early lead in the final. Unfortunately, a mechanical problems dropped him well back in the field before it was done. It was apparent to everyone, that he can run at the front with his new K&K Predator Rotax.

All in all, with only five Team K&K drivers, a first, two seconds, a third, and two fifths are very impressive opening results. Especially since the K&K chassis' are the most "cost effective" ltalian karts on the market.

Team K&K looks forward to the upcoming Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship and Eastern Canadian Karting Championship.
