| Canadian Karting League to Sunset Speedway |
The Canadian Karting League has relocated to the historic Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, Ont. The arrive and drive championship is currently busy preparing the karting track for competition.
"I couldn't be more thrilled with this move," CKL owner Russ Bond said. "Sunset Speedway is a fantastic facility, with first-class people, and I can't wait to start racing there."
Recently, the CKL was left without a 'home' after leaving the Innisfil Indy last week.
"It all came together quite quickly, and for that I am thankful," Bond said. "Things just fell into place, from Sunset Speedway's Mark Dilley welcoming us and helping with the track layout. Vaughn Mills NASCAR Speedpark donated all the 1100 NASCAR Sprint Cup tires, and SGT donated the shipping of the tires to Sunset Speedway - thanks to them all for their support."
The new karting track still needs to be approved by ASN Canada FIA, and that process is well underway.
"ASN Canada FIA has been very helpful in providing us all the necessary specifications for the track at Sunset Speedway, and we expect the track to be ready for competition very soon," Bond added.
Sunset Speedway's Mark Dilley, who actually participated in a demonstration race with one CKL member Jacob Neal last year, talked about the CKL coming to Sunset Speedway.
"Sunset Speedway is very excited to have the Canadian Karting League come on board. They have a great program to get people started in racing. These kids are the future stars of racing."
The Canadian Karting League would also like to thank the support of its membership in this move.
"The members have been fantastic," Bond said. "Everyone is fully supportive of the move, and everyone is itching to get racing there."
The Canadian Karting League is an arrive-and-drive karting league that provides everything needed to karting on a budget. The CKL is ASN Canada FIA sanctioned in Ontario.
