Excitement Continues at Waterloo Regional Kart Club

When the Waterloo Regional Kart Club gathered at Flamboro Speedway for their fifth race of the season on Saturday (June 16), the racers were looking forward to more great racing and the annual club picnic.

The veterans are working hard to establish their claim on the season pointís championship, and the rookies are starting to working on getting faster and learning to race, now that they have learned the routine and honed their driving skills. To mix things up for the first time in the 2012 season the club ran the standard track configuration backwards, which added a little extra challenge for the racers.

The weather was perfect for the picnic, the barbecued chicken was a big hit. Not only was the food good, but the racers couldnít wait for the prize draw to start. The club wants to thank the many club members that pitched in and helped to make this happen, it is no small feat to provide a meal for close to 300 people, and all this after having raced all morning.

The race day sponsor was Ontario Fire Truck. They have become the industry standard for complete fire apparatus solutions, whether it is testing, or repairs, their fleet of fully stocked mobile service trucks offer seven day a week, 24 hour a day service. With over 30 years experience, they have built their reputation through recommendations from their existing customers who tell their neighbouring fire departments about the excellent service they received. The club was very thankful for their sponsorship.

The Cadet A feature race witnessed Mia Whitney taking the victory, over Liam Rhodes, Kyle DaSilva, Carson Nagy, and Luke Pero.

Chelan Watts emerged with the Cadet B win, ahead of Sierra Whitney, Morgan Ramsden, Logan Sopha, and Haydon Dawson.

Novice A had Ciarra Collison out front at the checkered flag, leading Aaron Turnbull, Madison Colling, Tyson Wassink, and Austin Wadham.

Kieran Cunningham scored the Novice B victory, bettering Jaden Baillargeon, Brittney Wadham, Kole Mellor, and Connor Ramsden.

In Jr. Lite, it was Austin Bisschop who scored the win, beating Jordan Howse, Andrew Whelan, Brandon Lowry, and John Ditner.

Tyler Turnbull was the first to the stripe in Jr. Heavy, ahead of Justin Collison, Kenny Rockwell, Darren Dryden, and Tyler Paquette.

Tristan Gill was the driver to beat in Sr. Medium, besting Adam Racine, Brandon Hauck, Dominique Smith, and Kelsey Mantel.

The Masters win went to Bob Bailey, with Steve Lyons, Brian Wilkinson, John Dryden, and Gerry Reis behind.

The next race for the Waterloo Regional Kart Club is on Saturday June 23rd, at the home track at Flamboro Speedway. Practice starts at 8:00 am.
