TROIS-RIVIERES, QUE. (June 27, 2012) - In preparation for the 2012 United States Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals, Team PSL Karting will head to South Bend, Ind., this weekend for the JET Karting Rotax Shootout. Taking place at the same JET Karting at Michiana Raceway Park facility as the Grand Nationals, the Shootout will be a chance for Team PSL Karting pilots to fine-tune their race craft before the August 7-11 event. The Shootout also offers drivers two of the necessary four “punches” to compete in the Grand Nationals, making the weekend a busy one in Northern Indiana. With PSL Karting also running the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship (ECKC) this weekend at Mosport International Karting in Bowmanville, Ontario, auxiliary PSL team equipment has made its way to South Bend to support four talented and championship-caliber drivers.

2011 US Rotax DD2 Grand National Champion and Team USA member Kristina Vorndran will be on hand this weekend in South Bend. Gearing up for a potential back-to-back championship and Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals bid, Vorndran will definitely be one of the drivers to watch in the two-speed class.

Making the jump to senior action, Florida Winter Tour standout Dan Roeper will make his team debut with Team PSL Karting this weekend in South Bend, through a joint effort with Legree Motorsports. Roeper was a podium finisher in Rotax Junior action in the 2012 Florida Winter Tour, and will look to quickly come to grips with his new CRG ride during the Shootout action.

"I am excited to have Dan join the team," stated PSL Karting USA’s team manager Andrew Campbell. "New to the CRG brand, I am confident Dan can quickly adjust to the new chassis and garner some excellent results this weekend."

A lone Rotax Junior driver is set to hone his skills this weekend in Indiana, as Austin Versteeg will prep for the upcoming Grand Nationals. In his rookie junior season, Versteeg has been impressive. Finishing fourth in the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas Rotax Junior championship, with three podium finishes to his credit, Versteeg has also recently earned a podium finish in his SKUSA Pro Tour debut.

Mini Max hot shoe Matt Thomas will also take on the JET Karting Rotax Shootout this weekend. The fourth place finisher in the 2012 Florida Winter Tour Mini Max championship, Thomas has been on a tear of late. Earning podium finishes in the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, the South Florida RMAX Challenge and the inaugural Southeast Karting Challenge, Thomas will certainly be in contention for wins this weekend and the coveted Grand National title later this summer.

"Matt has never been to the JET Karting/MRP facility, so this weekend is crucial in his preparation for the Grand Nationals," continued Campbell. "Nonetheless, I know he is well-prepared and ready to go, so I am expected big things from him this weekend."

Vying for seven national titles and 13 invitations to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals during the August Grand Nationals, the Shootout this weekend will give the four Team PSL Karting pilots a chance to prepare for the upcoming event. The format this weekend will be similar to that of the Nationals, with drivers taking in pre-event testing leading up to racing action this weekend. Saturday and Sunday will see the team on track for two complete days of wheel-to-wheel action, complete with long 22 lap prefinals and 28 lap finals for DD2, Rotax Senior and Rotax Junior, and 16 lap prefinal and 22 lap finals in Mini Max.

Team PSL Karting will be trackside in 2012 at the Pan American Rotax Max Challenge, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Quebec Cup, Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres, United States Grand Nationals, ASN Canada FIA Canadian National Karting Championships and SKUSA SuperNationals. Team PSL Karting is associated with CRG, Maxter Kart Engines, Rotax, Tillett Racing Seats, Sniper, Unipro, Douglas Wheels, Vega, MG Tires, Arai, Bell, ULV, Mir, Freem, Elf Fuels, Alfano, MaxJet Software, D.I.D.
