| Atlantic Motorsport Karters Association Confirms 2013 Schedule |
Officials of the Atlantic Motorsport Karters Association are excited to confirm a 12-race schedule for the upcoming 2013 season.
With the goal of both having fun, and challenging for a club championship, top karters from both Nova Scotia and throughout the Maritimes will duel on the 0.5-km track at Scotia Speedworld. The AMKA drivers and their karts will first get the chance to roll on-course on May 25th and June 8th, via a pair of test and tune days. The title fight commences on June 15, with the season-opener being the prestigious Don Nickerson Memorial Trophy Race. Following two races in early and mid-July, Race 4 will feature the Deke Cameron Memorial Trophy Race on July 27. The first of three doubleheaders on the race calendar will be contested on August 17th, with Races 5 & 6. The traditional Fall Classic/Harry Harnish Memorial Trophy Race will be held on September 7th. The expected entertaining championship fights conclude with Races 9 & 10 on September 21, and Races 11 & 12 on September 28th.
In addition to announcing the 2013 race schedule, Atlantic Motorsport Karters Association officials have stated they are looking at potentially running one of the events as a night race, and are working on adding a travel points race in Moncton, N.B.
Prior to the racing action getting underway, the AMKA will be on display at the Atlantic Outdoor RV and Sports Show in Halifax on March 8-10.
