Other than the date, there is really very little solid information available. Checking the ASN site I still read:
"Classes, event schedule, competition numbers, accommodations, paddock and tent details will be posted in due course. A list of Drivers eligible to enter the Rotax Senior and Junior classes will be posted closer to the event."
The Rotax lists came out as of July 8th with a final list being made available on August 4th:

Please share what you know for those who intend to go... in two weeks. _________________ 2007 F1 Pool Champion.

A little dissappointing. For those having trouble finding rooms in the area. Shawinigan is really close 5 - 10 minutes away. Trois-Rivieres is 20 minutes.
Word is that Shiifter will be on Vega FM. I assume 4 cycle will be on Vega also. Would be nice to hear soon as many Ontario karters head for Shannonville on Wednesday _________________ Mike

ASN put updates today along with regulations check it out.
Mr Cooke is it possible to publish list of Registered people in each class ?
Plus side nice to see weight increased to 380 for shifter would like to see 385 but nice for sure. Dinner included in entry fees!!!!! Lots of racing laps 67 .. hope tires can make it
Would like to see MS98 spec'd as fuel for ICC, as that is what is used everywhere and what the motors where designed for.
Should be a great event as Grand Mere area is very race oriented being that close to Trois Rivieres. _________________ Mike

More information today from going looking:
July 29, 2008
NOTE: In the Supplementary Regulations, please correct the Micro Max specification for dry tires size. They are 4.60/10.0-5 for all 4 tires. (4 "front" tires).
As there are still qualifying events yet to run in Ontario and Quebec, the list of Drivers eligible to enter the Rotax Senior and Junior classes will be posted early next week. _________________ 2007 F1 Pool Champion. |

Okay they may have been slow getting the information flowing, but it's coming fast and furious now. Nice:
Registered drivers as of the 31st:
http://asncanada.com/2008_Karting_Nationals_GrandMere/2008-ASN-Nats-Drivers%20July31.pdf
Patricio O'Ward in Micro-Max... awesome! Canadians if you can give this guy a run you are very much in the game for North America!
15 so far in Mini-Max, awesome again. Lazare.. Grist.. Ferrucci.. shaping up nice. I would expect at least two more quick shoes from Quebec that I don't see on the list yet.
Nice field of Rotax Juniors, and the top two on that list could be at the top of the list all weekend. Everyone in Ontario has seen the Kevin Monteith show and I watched Kevin King win in Trois-Rivieres last weekend. Jeffrey May is coming into his own, and Jean-Francois Lafontaine will definitely be at the sharp end as well. Szigeti, Rago, Arnold should be a good three days!
There are at least seven seniors who could top the blocks, and the DD2 field has at least five powerhouse karters as well. Note DAN DiLeo, it's no typo. He's tuning up this weekend in Shannonville for his shot at Italy. I'm sure Philippe Gelinas is eyeing a trip to Europe as well. Boisclair, Herder, DiMeo.. I see Kyle Stevens coming from the West for another shot!
Thirteen as of the 31st in shifter, but that field will surely grow if what I watched at Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres is any indication. Honda is always too close to call, but Derek Michaud will be flying in senior to be sure. As will Monteith in Junior with defending champ Austin Milwain.
Should be great! _________________ 2007 F1 Pool Champion. |

Well, looking at the Number registrations and I am pretty excited about the quality of the pack in Rotax Max Sr and Jr.
Grand-Mère is a fast track and the show will be fantastic for the crowd.
Will we finally have a Junior driver from Ontario who will qualify for the World Finals?
See you there! |

To all our fellow Ontario karters who are attending the Nationals this week, I would like to wish you all the best of luck, we have some of the best drivers in Canada and it's now time to prove it.
Take no prisoners.
Hey Jason, if you see Brad Forbes, Sean McPhee and Mike Rogers, please wish them well from all of us at MIKA.
Regards,
Mark van Tonder |
