EKN Trackside Live: Qualifying Action

That's it for on track action today. The sun goes down quickly here and the darkness brings in a cool breeze. The track seemed to get much better today and leveled off as the rubber came in. Drivers will begin to test the edges of the fast line as they get set for wheel to wheel action tomorrow morning.

WOW, I think that is the best qualifying effort for Team USA in the 10 years of the event. A driver in the top-15 in all three divisions. Awesome job guys, keep up the great work.

Now there is a meeting of distributors this week and one of the topics is tires. There is a suggestion that they may bring out a 6.00 D2 rear for Mini and Jr. Right now the Mini's use 4.50 rears in many countries like the US. This would put the JR Rotax classes on the same tire measurements as other Jr classes like TaG or KF3.

KF3 goes to 7.1 tires in 2011.

FWT runs IAME Junior on 7.1

Canada runs Mini Max on full size chassis with 6.0.

Hi Jeff,

I've got the Egyptian "flu" and had to stay at the hotel today.

Where can I find complete results? The "Live Timing" section on the Rotax site appears to have stopped updating about 4pm? The only full qualifying results I see posted are for Junior?

THANKS!

Bill, hope you feel better tomorrow. The KART-DATA page is loading for me and they have all the results posted, plus Jeff published the results of the North American contingent earlier in this thread.

EKN Trackside Live: Qualifying Action

Bill:
Hope you feel better soon. Internet from here has been up and down all day. We have lost connection to the timing several times. I'm on reboot number 10. We have a direct feed from the tower here in the media center.

It will be interesting to see the results of the tire discussion at Rotax. Regardless of what other series do, it seems silly to have the Jr's faster then the Sr's.

EKN Trackside Live: Thursday Heat Race Action

Some pit notes from yesterdays qualifying to think about.

In Junior Max the top ten were separated by just .36 of a second and you had to go back to 26th to find a half second gap and 60th to find a full second.

In Senior Max the top ten were separated by .31 of a second and 27th spot was a half second back with the one second mark in the 59th position.

In DD2 Max the top ten were separated by .32 and the half second gap fell back to 21st spot with a full one second gap back in 47th.

There is real consistency on the spread. Talking to the teams and drivers there have been no major engine or chassis problems. The DD2 guys are working on adjusting the new paddle shift system to fit them. Several have talked about how you can adjust the height and angle so you can now put your hands were you want on the wheel.

EKN Trackside Live: Thursday Heat Race Action

The Juniors just finished their two heats and all the North American drivers did well and all finished up the laps. Results will be posted shortly. The temp is higher today then we have seen all week. The sky is amazing bright blue and the slight breeze is a help. It will be interesting to see tire wear after the heats are done today.
