Hey Stephen,
Jeff is leaving today bound for Egypt. Not sure on the time but of course with all the time zone changes, it may not be until Friday that we get our first update from him on his travels or when he settles into his hotel. _________________ David Cole

Here are some photos of the Ocala Gran Prix crew today making their way to New York from Orlando and while waiting to board the flight to Egypt:

Victor and I had a wheel chair race. I set fast time by 4 seconds!!! LOL We also had a limbo with the wheel chairs going on while we were waiting for the ticketing counter to open. |

| I have been texting with Mike all day (he is tuning for Victor Pedrosa with the OGP crew). After leaving New York yesterday evening around 6:30, they arrived in Cairo today at 2:30pm Egypt time and then had a short plane ride to Sharm el Sheikh. They settled into their rooms, and I have just been informed they enjoyed a "scrumptious" dinner of (I am going to use this term, not sure what they call them in Egypt) Rocky Mountain oysters, liver, lamb and chicken along with some Egyptian wine. I added in the scrumptious...although Mike said it was very good! Tomorrow they will be heading to the track to get their credentials in order. Hopefully I can post some photos once Mike gets his internet connection sorted out at the hotel. |

EKN Trackside Live: We Have Arrived!
Reporting live here from SES and Ghibli Raceway. Finally up and going with internet connection. It's Sunday morning and the trip in was great. All of our luggage arrived, which by all accounts was a miracle. The Launis and the Szigetis are sitll waiting on their luggage.
The track is amazing. Very cool layout and very fast. Lots of drivers hit the track yesterday in the rental karts to get in some laps. I saw lots of the Team USA drivers yesterday including the huge entourage from OGP. Looks like most of Team Canada are arriving today.
If you have any questions, jump on and ask away. I will be filing my first report tomorrow after the drivers draw for their karts and start working. Luckily for me, Team USA and Team Canada are across from each other in the paddock. It will keep me from wearing out my shoes. _________________ Jeff Grist

EKN Trackside Live: Day One Activity
Finally back on line. As happens at large events like this, they had to change up the password for the media center. The password spreads quickly in the paddock and slows the network down a ton. Drivers picked up their karts today and the paddock was going crazy with activity. Kart assembly, scrutineering and inspection all done today. All the Team USA drivers are on site and got through scrutineering with no problems. All the Team Canada drivers were also on site and completed all their kart setup and inspection.
Bill Wright will MC the MOJO World Tire Changing Competition at the Welcome Party tonight.
Check for my full report on todays activities coming soon. And be sure to get on and cheer for your favorite driver. _________________ Jeff Grist |
