Hello EKN viewers,

Like last week, the team here at eKartingNews.ca will be managing the EKN Trackside coverage for the final weekend of the Tour. EKN publisher Rob Howden will be handling the mic duties and working with Elena Maurini trackside, providing paddock news and immediate top-five postings here while Jason Holland will provide a Saturday night championship points update and full reports following the weekendís action in the News section.

Again, we'll be directing the readers of eKartingNews.com over here to get all the updated news and instant top-fives via the forum.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away...the crew in Ocala will do what we can to answer them for you.

eKartingNews.ca Paddock Update:

Friday practice is proceeding nicely down here at Ocala Grand Prix in preparations for the final rounds of this yearís Florida Winter Tour. I had a chance to check out the most recent DD2 practice, which looks set to comfortably top the 20-kart mark, with 24 drivers being a realistic possibility. The quick driver out of the box looks to be Pier-Luc Ouellette, on the SRA / Arrow USA entry. With all the drivers run official race weight and with new tires being bolted on occasionally, Ouellette is the driver who most are targeting, as he got down to a 36.4 in the post-lunch sessions. Also quick has been fellow Arrow USA team member Stuart Marsell. Canadians Kyle Herder (Arrow) and Daniel Morad (First Kart) are also fast, Morad and his tuner Trevor Daley finally dialing in the chassis after on a trying day on Thursday.

Sodi pilot James Kennedy dipped below the 36.6 mark, as did First Kartís Eric Gerrits. In the session I just watched, Victor Pedrosa was impressive, running n OGP Tony Kart with AJ Whisler handling the wrenches. A last-minute entry came from MSR Houstonís Stuart Robinson, who will run a new First Kart that was built last night for him. It was completed by 9:00 pm and he has been on-track all day, now running in the 49s.

Remember, the top point getter from the two days of racing will be rewarded with a full-paid invitation to the Rotax Grand Finals in Dubai, so this is going to be a serious fight.

Iím heading back to the paddock to dig up a little more info.

Hey Team!

The winter tour rules state:
DROPS: Rescind STARS 2.25 D, ďA Driverís exclusion, (disqualification), cannot be dropped.Ē Technical violations may be dropped with the approval of the Formula Kart Racing Chief Steward.

Looking at the posted points I see that some DQ's remain, while Pier-Luc is listed as a 0 for his engine mistake at Homestead. Does this mean is he able to drop one? If so, he enters the weekend only 90 points out - and the field is MUCH bigger this weekend.
