Folks - I have copied to here a couple of posts from ekn.com about the Rotax Cylinder Recall and Inspection requirement. Marshall Martin is the national race Director in the US. Looks like they did the right thing and corrected the warranty registration requirement. Now, if SRA can just publish something

How can one determine if an engine is warranty registered?

Ralph,
This is no longer an issue. All engines will be inspected under the same guidelines. This will be done under a non registration amnesty program. Contact your dealer/service center for an appointment to be inspected.

To all;
We are doing everything possible to make this issue and procedure go as smoothly as possible. To make this all work it is going to take a lot of cooperation from owners, service centers, SSE East, SSC West and Rotax. Somewhere along the line I am sure we will experience some hickups. With the scope of this inspection process it is almost impossible not to. As hickups happen we will deal with each one in a timely, best solution possible. We ask everyone to schedule your inspections, please do not wait until the last minute.
Make sure anyone you know who owns a Rotax motor gets an appointment for inspection; I think one thing needs to be noted if a motor is submitted without a seal the owner will face the costs of a complete motor inspection.
At some point in the future someone with a motor is going to submit it for service and find out they cylinder they have is out of spec and therefore not legal. They will have missed this inspection notice and will be responsible for the costs of parts and labor. We all hope this does not happen but I am sure it will.
Again make sure everyone you know with a Rotax Motor gets it in for inspection. _________________ Richard Gray (Moved to Florida, but heart still at PPK) |
